ALUMNI NEWS

From the Desk of
SAA President
Ed Eichhorn '69

Greetings from Castle Point! September/October 2007
Ed Eichhorn, Class of 1969Greetings!

Welcome to the new Stevens Alumni Association president's e-mail newsletter!

We plan to send out this new publication on a bimonthly basis to share news with you about Stevens and our Alumni Association. We will also keep you informed of upcoming events that may interested you.

First off, we would like your help in naming this publication. We think you'll agree that the "Stevens Alumni Association President's E-mail Newsletter" is a little long, and our tentative name of "Stevens Alumni News" may be a bit boring. Please send your suggestions for a better name to alumni@stevens.edu. There is a prize for coming up with the winning name. If your name is selected, you will win a $50 gift certificate to the Stevens Campus Store.

We would also like your feedback about this new media effort of alumni publications. E-mail your comments to alumni@stevens.edu. We would like to make this newsletter a quick and easy way for you to keep up with current events at Stevens.

The latest news that I'd like to bring your attention to is a recent honor the Institute received for having one of the best career development programs in the United States.

In August, The Princeton Review published a report on the comparative ability of recent graduates from 366 of the top U.S. colleges and universities to obtain employment upon graduation. Stevens was the only school in the New York metropolitan area to finish in the top 20!

The report brought major media attention to campus-including WABC-TV Eyewitness News. ABC interviewed Stevens' director of Career Development, Lynn Insley, and students who talked about their very positive experiences in the award-winning Stevens Cooperative Education Program that helped to prepare them for employment. One student, senior Adam Hecht, has already obtained a job on Wall Street that will pay him more than $70,000 per year upon graduation next June.

Success in any venture normally has many contributors. This achievement was made possible by many positive factors at Stevens. I believe that the Office of Admissions has done a great job of recruiting students with the right mix of skills to master today's challenging curriculum. The Stevens faculty is doing an excellent job of preparing our students to enter industry, and our Office of Career Development helps our students find the niche that is right for them.

Check out the WABC-TV news report (mpg video file).

Then take a look at our Upcoming Events listings at the bottom of this newsletter and on the Stevens Alumni Association Web site: http://alumni.stevens.edu.

We look forward to seeing you at a Stevens alumni event soon!
