NEWS FROM CASTLE POINT

From the Desk of

SAA President

Ed Eichhorn '69

 An Alumni E-Newsletter January/February 2008

Ed Eichhorn, Class of 1969As you can see, we have selected the name for our e-newsletter. News From Castle Point was the name submitted by Scott Swensen '74, and he is the winner of a $50 gift certificate to the Stevens Campus Store. We are also pleased to announce that StevensConnect was selected to be the name of our private online network. This name was so close to the "Stevens Alumni Connections" suggestion for our newsletter name, submitted separately by Lydia Barron, M.S. '94,  and Betty Shinn Wells '82, that we have decided to give both Lydia and Betty gift certificates, too. Congratulations to all of our winners!

As we reported in our last issue, we selected a private network product developed by AffinityCircles.com to be the platform for StevensConnect. Our implementation committee, chaired by Gerry Crispin '69, is currently working with our supplier to bring the system online. We expect that our network will go live in March, and we will provide you with all of the information that you will need to join StevensConnect in our next issue.

Stevens Institute of Technology was founded on Feb. 15, 1870. In celebration of the founding of Stevens, the Institute will hold a Founder's Day event on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The event, hosted by Provost George Korfiatis, Hon. M.Eng. '95, will begin at 2 p.m. with registration in the DeBaun Auditorium. The program will feature a panel discussion in DeBaun, followed by a reception at the Babbio Center. A panel of alumni, faculty, students and administrators will consider the questions "What makes Stevens a 'hot' school?" and "How can everyone in the Stevens community contribute to making Stevens better, or 'hotter?' " To learn more about this new and interesting event, please check out the article listed below.

In our last issue, we also announced the inaugural Stevens Research Day, which was developed to promote the expansion in contract research that has become an important part of the Stevens community. We are pleased to announce that this program has been scheduled for April 30. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for this exciting and enlightening event. Read our news brief about Research Day plans from the link below.

Thank you for your continued support!

All the best!
